Research on Tundish Capacity Expansion and Process Optimization of Single-Strand Slab Caster
View through CrossRef
Tundish, as a key link in controlling molten steel cleaning in continuous casting process, plays an increasingly important role in modern steelmaking production. In addition to the basic functions of molten steel distribution and continuous pouring, tundish should also prevent secondary oxidation and suction of molten steel, improve the flow state of molten steel, prevent slag entrainment and promote inclusions to float, and accurately control the superheat of molten steel. In the design, a tundish with a large capacity and a deep molten pool should be considered to increase the average residence time of the molten steel in tundish. For slabs, generally the newer tundish has a larger capacity, with the smaller capacity of more than 40t, and some reaches 60-85t, and the depth of tundish is generally greater than 1000mm, and the depth of the world’s deepest tundish reaches 1524mm [1-4]. The internal structure of tundish and other purification devices also play an important role. The flow track of molten steel can be changed and the floating distance of inclusions shortened by arranging flow control device reasonably on the inner cavity structure.
Title: Research on Tundish Capacity Expansion and Process Optimization of Single-Strand Slab Caster
