El Profesor Nikolas Rose se desempeña actualmente como director del Departamento de Sociología en el King’s College, en Londres, Inglaterra. Hasta el 31 de diciembre de 2011 y por ocho años fue el director del Centro BIOS (Centre for the Study of Bioscience, Biomedicine, Biotechnology and Society), en el London School of Economics. Es internacionalmente conocido por el desarrollo de estudios que han continuado y expandido algunos enfoques del filósofo francés Michel Foucault, particularmente en el dominio de las “ciencias psi” y sus implicancias en el campo político. Ha realizado además, junto con su colega Peter Miller, numerosos trabajos sobre los cambios en las racionalidades y las técnicas políticas, entre los cuales cabe destacar la última producción conjunta, Governing the present (Polity Press, 2008)
