Krodha in Classical Texts: A Literature Review

In present era Krodha (Anger) has become one of the contributing factor for major Manasik Vyadhis. Samhita, describes Krodha (Anger) as predominantly Raja guna Pradhan and a hetu for Pitta dosha aggravation .In Charak Samhita Sutrasthana Krodha (Anger) is mentioned as Dharaneeya vega and one of the Mano vikara related to Sharirikdoshas-Pitta.Ayurveda the traditional Indian system of medicine,views  Krodha also among one of  the Manovikaras, which directly affect the Manobhavas which are Cinta, Vichara, Uhya, Sankalpa. It  causes vitiation of manasik doshas (satva,raja,tama) these in turn vitiates doshas and causes vyadhis like Jwara,Prameha,Unmad,Apasmar.The present article is an attempt made for understanding the concept Krodha(Anger) as one of the Dharaneeya vega responsible in maintaining dosha balance in the body.It describes effects of Krodha(Anger) on Manasik & Sharirik swasthya and a leading cause for developing various vyadhis.This article is an attempt made for better understanding  of krodha(Anger) according to ayurved, based on literature study.
