The Amboseli basin is a semiarid short‐grass savannah straddling the Kenya–Tanzania border at the northern base of Mount Kilimanjaro. The region supports a diverse array of wildlife, including three primate species: savannah baboons, vervet monkeys, and galagos. Amboseli National Park, situated within the broader Amboseli ecosystem, and its surrounding areas have been the focus of a number of landmark primatological studies.
