Artículo que versa sobre la dramaturga y traductora jiennense Joaquina Vera, la cual desarrolló su labor literaria en las décadas centrales del siglo XIX, adaptando y traduciendo obra de teatro francesas, y un relato inglés del prolífico escritor victoriano Edward Bulwer-Lytton, Leila, or The Siege of Granada (1838), que suscitó el interés entre los intelectuales españoles, imbuidos de las propuestas románticas, por su doble vertiente orientalista y medieval. El análisis de la versión de Vera se lleva a cabo basándose en tres ejes: el paratexto, las estrategias y lo errores de traducción.
