Ce travail présente une synthèse phytosociologique à l’échelle de l’Europe de l’ouest de la classe Thero-Salicornietea Pignatti ex Tx. & Oberdorfer 1958 corr. Tx. 1974 qui caractérise la végétation annuelle crassulescente qui colonise les sols salins initiaux. Au sein du seul ordre européen (Thero-Salicornietalia) de cette classe, trois alliances (Salicornion dolichostachyae, Salicornion europaeo-ramosissimae et Salicornion patulae) et quinze associations sont reconnues.
