Celem powstania artykułu było ukazanie ścieżki rozwoju intelektualno-duchowego ks. Idziego Radziszewskiego. Przedstawiono czas pobytu w Seminarium Duchownym we Włocławku, dalsze studia teologiczne w Akademii Duchownej w Petersburgu i studia filozoficzne na Uniwersytecie Katolickim w Lowanium. Pozwoliły one młodemu studentowi zdobyć umiejętności i doświadczenie potrzebne w przyszłej pracy organizacyjno-naukowej. Przygotowanie to, jak ukazano w epilogu, nie od razu zostało uwieńczone sukcesem. Dopiero kolejne intelektualne i organizacyjne zmagania przyniosły owoc w postaci zorganizowania i prowadzenia uniwersytetu katolickiego w Polsce.
