A Princely Family

The drawing features a family of three seated on a carpet and against large cylindrical pillows. The male figure’s royal status is signified by his elaborate turban and two-pearl earring. He also wears a long robe (jama), a waist sash (patka), an armlet, and necklaces. Tucked into his waist sash is a punch dagger (katar). The figure sits with his legs folded under him. His left hand is up in conversation, while his right supports a small boy on his lap. The boy wears a cap and a long robe. His left arm is also up in conversation. They both face the female figure that sits to the left of them. She wears a chaniya choli, which consists of a crop top and a long skirt. She wears armlets, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings. In front of the family are trays of food. Rajput style, Kota school.
