Israeli Aggression

This paper examines the short-term goals, long-term objectives and underpinning motivations of Israel and its allies vis-à-vis their approaches toward Gaza and beyond, especially in the context of post-October 7 (2023) developments. Likewise, it examines the role of Hamas and its supporters in the ongoing phase of Palestine’s liberation struggle. Given this, the first part of the paper aims to explore: the perspective of Israeli leadership in prolonging the situation in Gaza; why and how Israel is expanding its settlements despite the warnings given by international legal courts—International Criminal Court(ICC) and International Court of Justice (ICJ); and how the right-wing nationalist aspirations have added to Israel’s justification of its actions. The second part of the paper delves into the motivation and rationale behind Hamas’ October 7 initiative, where Hamas stands as a resistant movement after 15 months of the attack in the context of its achievements. The third part discusses the role of international organizations in particular, and that of China and Russia in general, followed by a conclusion.
