View through CrossRef
In Ayurveda, these vital spots are referred to as Marma, which is most widely described and at the same time one
of the most debated topics in the Brihatrayees. Acharyas mentioned the total number of Marma as 107.
Adhoshakha is an essential part of the body, helping to maintain postural balance and bear body weight. And it is
an area where a greater number of injuries are prone to occur while walking or running, especially in sports.
Therefore, it is highly essential to have an understanding of the vital points present in paada. Acharya Sushruta
has classified Marma based on location; Shakha-gata Marma is one among them. The Indrabasti Marma is
Mamsa Marma and Kalanthara Pranahara Marma. Its location, size and Viddha Lakshana are mentioned in
gross. But the detailed explanation of the anatomical structures is not mentioned. This study aims to identify and
locate the anatomical entity of Indrabasti Marma.
