Evaluation of Plant Extracts and Imidacloprid for the Management of Bemisia Tabaci Infestation in Tomato Crop

The current research regarding the efficacy of different plant extracts against Bemisia tabaci was conducted to investigate the efficacy of against Bemisia tabaci on Tomato at the Newly Developmental Malakandair Farm (NDMF), The University of Agriculture Peshawar. Two plant extracts were used in the experiment Mentha pulegium (7%), piper callosum (7%), Imidacloprid (0,5%), and Control were applied against Bemisia tabaci on tomato. There were four treatments and each treatment was repeated thrice. The data showed that all plant extracts and Imidacloprid significantly minimized the population of Bemisia tabaci. Minimum population of Bemisia tabaci leaf was recorded in Imidacloprid (0.5%) followed by Mentha Pulegium (7%). The maximum Bemisia tabaci population laef1 was recorded in the control plot. The effect of the Piper callosum (7%) and Mentha pulegium (7%) was statistically non-significant from each other against Bemisia tabaci. Maximum yield of tomato was noted in Imidacloprid (0.5%) and Piper Callosum (7%) treated plots i.e. 13.2 and 10.5 tons ha1 respectively. The minimum yield was recorded in control (4.5 tons ha1). It is based on the results that concluded both Imidacloprid and Mentha pulegium efficiently controlled the B. tabaci infestations and hence can be used in the Pakistan for whitefly in tomato crops.
