The purpose of this thesis is to explore the rapidly growing influence of graffiti art and compare its role in today's art world and art education. Graffiti art has been a fixture in street scenes, in and around major cities in the United States and around the world. However, over the past twenty years or so graffiti art has been slowly accepted into the mainstream art scene. While it has started to become more recognized in the art world, graffiti as an art form seems to still have less support in the education system.
