Artful Inquiry of Transnational Experiences

In this article, I demonstrate how I engaged in artful inquiry to explore my own experiences as an Asian transnational in the U.S. higher education context. I explain how I could come to understand better who I am and am becoming in relation to others, how I was empowered through the artful inquiry process, and how centering the arts as a mode of thinking was therapeutic in my inquiry. The discussion explores an internal tension created between the exploratory uncertainty of artful inquiry as pursued through painting, journaling, and poetry writing in contrast to the more sequential, systematic ways of doing qualitative research.
