В статье представлен обзор мнений относительно понятия правовой охраны Конституции, раскрывается сущность и содержание правовой охраны конституции посредством анализа терминологической базы, относительно которой в доктринальных источниках нет единства мнений. Дается краткая характеристика правового механизма охраны Основного закона. Отмечается, что Конституция, как Основной закон Российского государства, обладает приоритетом в системе законодательства Российской Федерации, верховенством и прямым действием на всей ее территории. Сделан вывод о том, что сущность и содержание правовой охраны Основного закона обусловлены его особыми юридическими свойствами
