The motif of the fresco is possibly an interior from Carl Wilhelmson’s villa in Fiskebäskil (the building was completed in 1913), which depicts one of the family members from a view of the Bökeviken.
In Romdahl (1938), only three works Wilhelmson performed in al fresco technique, the first two being studies to the third, the large al fresco painting in the Swedish County Council’s session room in Gothenburg 1927:

It is described that the two studies are made as “samples of plaster laid on steel wire mesh.”

The donor bought the artwork at auction at the Svensk-French Art Gallery in Stockholm in November 1954. An article in Svenska Dagbladet states: “- - - - Heavy art could be called Carl Wilhelmson’s” Viennese girl, “who was carried in during some effort on the part of the wearer, but it was also executed as a fresco painting on concrete. 1.500 had the new owner give for it. - -”
The artwork was shown at the exhibition “Christian Eriksson and Carl Wilhelmson” at Liljevalch’s Art Hall 15 January - 15 February 1955. However, the printed catalogue of the exhibition does not appear in the work list.
