Samples for necklace 'Green 01

Trials for necklace 'Green 01', a necklace consisting of a bundle of thick cords and yarns. It concerns several tests of knotwork (a=d), which is inspired by schiemanswerk, with a.o. nettle yarn (a=b), with thin and thick hemp threads (c=d). (e=f) twisted bundles of hand-spun nettle threads around a core of hemp. (g) First test in the passementerie of the museum. It is a twisted cord with thickenings. (i=l) twisted cords with remaining yarns from the attic of the museum, twisted around a core. In (i=j) the cords are twisted into each other like nests. Contrasts in colour and roughness of the material are investigated. In (k=l) the yarns are painted light green with ordinary linseed oil based wood paint. (m=p) hand-blown glass beads wrapped with green yarns. (m=n) glass beads with lengthwise stripes, wrapped with jute threads. The structure of the glass in (o=p) was created by wrapping bottles with string and making a model of it for the glassblower. (o) oblong bead, painted green on the inside of the glass, with dyed jute wrapped around it.
