The Humanitarian Element In Italian Neorealism: A Critical Analysis

From its inception, the film industry has played a vital role in the society as it serves as the mirror of society. The contemporary cinema can be described as the escalation of intercultural influences of different styles, subjectivity, and genre. The prominence is given to the stylized specificities, iconography, and various representation of narratives.<br><br>Italian neorealism was evolved after the World War II. It came into existence out of necessity as well as artistic reaction. The fundamental elements of neorealism can be understood in-depth through the article ―An Aesthetic of Reality: Neorealism by Andre Bazin. It gives us better understanding about its origin. The Italian film industry was liberated at the end of World War II after being constrained for decades under Mussolini‘s rule as the war resulted into fall of the fascist government (Bazin 2001).<br><br>This paper deals with the intent of Humanity henceforth referred to as the humanitarian element in the films of Italian Neorealism.
