Necklace

A two-strand necklace, one of which has been undone today. The larger loop is made up of thirty-one spherical beads of red coral -some cylindrical and biconical ones are arranged at the ends-, which alternate with five hazelnuts with a marked foot, loaded with circles of thread, and an alconcil, which has solid and openwork horizontal stripes. The shortest round has twenty-one beads similar to the ones described above, alternating with four hazelnuts with a marked foot, although all of them are different in size and technique. All strung on black cotton thread, finished off with black velvet ribbons. The thread and ribbons are new. \The set has a symmetrical arrangement around the central pendant of the main lap. It is a two-window case with a plain frame, with a cord application, four fans and four candelieri in the profile; circular handle and loop. On the inside of both sides, on red felt, coloured talcum powder (gold, silver, pink) depicting bunches of grapes, hearts, doves, diamonds and flowers. H: 8.7, W: 7 cm. On each side of this medallion, a cut-out medal of Santiago Matamoros, with a different obverse and reverse, and two medallions. These three pendants can be dated to the 18th century. \One of them of two windows, with beveled glass, frame with application of cordoncillo and filigree profile with nine flowers of cordoncillo; fluted handle perpendicular to the frame. Inside, painted glass with Carmelite coat of arms and Holy Face of Jaén with the attributes of the Passion. XVIIIth century. H: 5, W: 4 cm. \The other has two windows, with two rock crystal cabochons, smooth frame and profile with cordoncillo framing a spiral with flowers on the axes; circular handle. On both sides there is a painting on very deteriorated glass, possibly a Calvary with Mary and St. John and a Jerusalem, both surrounded by a simple golden border. The painting on the rock crystal plates refers to the Lombard school and can be dated to the first years of the 17th century. The mount is Spanish.
