Bioassaying Agrotis segetum granulosis virus (Baculovirus) response in Agrotis segetum Schiff. (Lep., Noctuidae)

AbstractA bioassay procedure—using feeding chambers placed on a leaf surface—has been devised to measure the response of first instar larvae of the turnip moth, Agrotis segetum, to its granulosis virus. The LD50 was estimated to be 2560 for the first instar larvae, being the same for neonates and 3 days old larvae as well. In comparative tests 9 plant species appeared equally suitable for the inoculation process.
