View of the entrance of a cave in Oreston. Oreston is near Plymstock, Hooe and Turnchapel. It is on the opposite side of the Cattewater to Cattedown. In the early 19th century there were Breakwater Quarries extracting limestone at Oreston. Eventually they found large amounts of fossil bones in caves here. The first scientific cave excavations took place in Plymouth at Oreston.
