Comparison of Sonographic Features of Uterine Fibroids in Fertile and Infertile Females
View through CrossRef
Uterine fibroids are common benign tumors found in women of reproductive age that can cause a range of symptoms, including infertility. This study aimed to compare the sonographic features of uterine fibroids in fertile and infertile females and to compare the sonographic features of uterine fibroids in primary and secondary infertile females. The study included a total of 338 women with fibroids, and their sonographic features were analyzed based on the location of the fibroids. The results showed that the majority of fibroids were located in the subserosal layer (54.4%), followed by the intramural layer (31.1%), submucosal layer (8.3%), and pedunculated (6.2%) layer. The study found a significant association between the sonographic appearance of fibroids and their location. Women with fibroids in the submucosal and intramural layers were more likely to experience infertility than those with fibroids in the subserosal layer or without fibroids. Additionally, primary infertility was associated with a higher number of fibroids, whereas secondary infertility was not significantly associated with the number of fibroids. These findings suggest that the location and number of fibroids may play a crucial role in infertility. Women with fibroids in the submucosal and intramural layers and those with a higher number of fibroids may be at a higher risk of infertility. Therefore, the evaluation of fibroids' sonographic features may be beneficial in identifying women at higher risk of infertility. Conclusion of study provides evidence of the association between uterine fibroids sonographic features and infertility in women. The findings suggest that the location and number of fibroids are significant predictors of infertility, and primary infertility is associated with a higher number of fibroids. These results may have important implications for the management of fibroids-associated infertility.

Title: Comparison of Sonographic Features of Uterine Fibroids in Fertile and Infertile Females
Description:
Uterine fibroids are common benign tumors found in women of reproductive age that can cause a range of symptoms, including infertility.
This study aimed to compare the sonographic features of uterine fibroids in fertile and infertile females and to compare the sonographic features of uterine fibroids in primary and secondary infertile females.
The study included a total of 338 women with fibroids, and their sonographic features were analyzed based on the location of the fibroids.
The results showed that the majority of fibroids were located in the subserosal layer (54.
4%), followed by the intramural layer (31.
1%), submucosal layer (8.
3%), and pedunculated (6.
2%) layer.
