Hubungan Kejadian Infeksi Human Immunodeficiency Virus dengan Infeksi Hepatitis C di RSUD Al-Ihsan Bandung
View through CrossRef
Abstract. Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) are two chronic infections that often occur together due to similar modes of transmission, such as blood contact, sexual activity, and the use of shared needles. This study aims to analyze the relationship between HIV and HCV infections among patients at Al Ihsan Regional Hospital, Bandung, during the 2022–2023 period. The study design is observational analytic with a cross-sectional approach. The study utilized medical records data from 155 HIV patients and 150 non-HIV patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Based on the data, there were 155 HIV patients, 14 hepatitis C patients, and no cases of HIV-HCV coinfection. Among the 155 HIV patients, none tested positive for HCV based on anti-HCV screening, while 9.3% of non-HIV patients showed positive results (p<0.001). The primary risk factors for HIV infection included having multiple sexual partners (38.1%), being homosexual/bisexual (31.6%), and sharing needles (9.7%). The study concluded that there was no significant relationship between HIV and HCV infections in the population studied. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for prevention and management strategies for HIV-HCV coinfections, particularly in addressing transmission risks among vulnerable populations in hospital settings.
