1.1.3 Synthesis of N-Heterocyclic Carbenes and Their Precursors

View through CrossRef
AbstractAn overview of common methodologies for the preparation of free N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) and their respective precursors is given. In addition to classical five-membered NHCs, examples of less-explored non-classical NHCs, including mesoionic and ring-expanded species, are also described. Experimental procedures reported in the primary literature are included for selected key compounds.
