“Epic Studies of the Uzbek Field in Turkey and Prof. Dr. Töre Mirzayev”

In Turkey, scientific studies on epics began with Fuad Köprülü in the early 20th century. After Köprülü, research on Turkish epics gained momentum from the early years of the Republic, and significant progress has been made through academic studies up to the present day. Since 1985, there have been a considerable number of master’s and doctoral theses in Turkish universities on Turkish epics. Among these, studies focusing on epics widely known and still narrated today in Turkestan, and associated with the Uzbek field, are particularly prominent. Epic studies conducted in Turkey are not only the result of work carried out within Turkey itself, but also benefit significantly from the contributions of scholars from other Turkic states and communities outside Turkey. One of these scholars is Prof. Dr. Töre Mirzayev. Some of Mirzayev’s works, as an Uzbek scholar, have been published in Turkey as books and articles. His studies have served as important sources for epic research in Turkey as well as for many other related academic works. This paper examines postgraduate studies in Turkish universities on Uzbek field epics, the works of Prof. Dr. Töre Mirzayev published in Turkey, and the research that has been influenced by these works.
