Xi Jinping Era (2012–Ongoing)

Abstract Chapter Overview This chapter is our final substantive chapter, and it documents teaching and education advances during Xi Jinping’s rule from 2012 until the beginning of 2025 when the authors have been finishing writing this book. Historical Background It covers current history while Chairman Xi Jinping still rules China and has arguably made Chinese great again. The authors argue that Xi’s leadership has propelled China to the forefront of global advancements in space exploration, military capabilities and medical research. Education Goals Excellence goals that are being pursued in this era include compulsory K-9 schooling, space and military advances as well as new science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and digital education curriculums. Xi expects and has made sure that Chinese students obey the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). This has been strengthened in Xi’s era by overtly preferencing public over private education, enhancing patriotic education at all year levels of study and by developing a state-wide, advanced surveilled technology apparatus. Teachers and Teacher Preparation Programmes The teachers most well known in this era are the taikonauts who teach Chinese students about science in space from within their spaceships! While the education philosophy underpinning the axiology of this is time is made evident in the book series, the Thoughts of Xi Jinping. Conclusions Chinese education during Xi’s rule has seen incredible advances in education and teaching in China. This amazing nation and her people will continue to shock the world with how advanced Chinese education and technology has become and will continue to be into the future.
