The doctrine of the farm animals’ exterior was laid down in the 17 th and 19 th centuries by H. Zettegast, K. Bourgelle, St. Belem, G. Wilkens, I. Nathusius and other scientists, and it continues successfully at the present time developing. Certain successes in the theory and practice of the development of the science of animal’s parts of body in the works of Soviet scientists - M.I. Pridorogin, P.N. Kuleshov, I.I. Ivanov and others in the 1950s and 1960s and later were reflected. At that time, herds’ survey and inventory was carried out, various mechanical systems of manure harvesting and feed distribution began to be used, scientifically based systems of post-quarter milking of cows related to morpho-and-physiological (exterior and interior) signs of udder was appeared. During this period, the exterior’s doctrine began to operate steadily with the concepts of "care" (supervision, looking after) farm animals to milk production increasing and dairy products quality improving. The animals’ exterior doctrine development is directly related to the improvement of the farm animals’ genetic potential, genotype and gene pool, as well as their use through the use of mechanized machines, equipment, technical and technological means of feeding, maintenance and care - processes related to the signs of physique effectiveness. Body traits are taken into account at new high production communities and arrays of high-value animals creating. During the period of development from 1889 to at present, the study of the exterior was carried out by various methods, but the most effective was the linear assessment of body type’s method, which contributed to the Holstein cattle breed at domestic breeding creating. The development of the doctrine of the exterior was made it possible in 1925 to design the Holstein cattle breed, the best in the world for milk production. This breed turned out to be as an animal model, based on the exterior of which it is possible to judge its milk production magnitude.
