نقلت وزارة التعليم والثقافة والبحوث والتكنولوجيا توجيهاتها لتنفيذ التعلم عبر الإنترنت لمنع انتشار مرض فيروس كورونا (كوفيد -19). من خلال التعلم عبر الإنترنت ، يمكن للمعلم إجراء اجتماعات وجهًا لوجه مع طلابه من خلال التطبيقات التي يمكن الوصول إليها عن طريق شبكة الإنترنت. لا يمكن فصل التعلم عبر الإنترنت عن الوسائط القائمة على الإنترنت ، لأن التعلم عبر الإنترنت يتطلب الوصول إلى شبكة الإنترنت. يعتبر استخدام وسائل الإعلام القائمة على الإنترنت في عصر الوباء العالمي أمرًا ملحًا وسط سياسة الحكومة لتجنب الحشود تحسباً لانتشار جائحة عالمي. وسائل الإعلام العربية القائمة على الإنترنت لها بعض الإلحاح في التعلم عبر الإنترنت في عصر جائحة عالمي ، وأحد الأسباب الرئيسية هو كوسيلة اتصال للتواصل والتفاعل وجهاً لوجه مع الطلاب في خضم انتشار كوفيد -19.
