Action Learning Literature Review

All work processes have been transformed by technological advancements, and for many organisations, the operating horizon has expanded from a small geographic area to literally the entire world. As a result, "being competitive" has become a global need for government, rather than a selective international one. Everything has accelerated, including the rate of change. It makes sense that methods for learning, development, and training have become more sophisticated in their approach, expanded in scope, and gained significance during a time of transition and opportunity. <br>Everyone must pursue lifelong learning due to the always changing environment; governments are recognising the importance of this and are making efforts to encourage it broadly. Significant learning opportunities can be derived from real-life events, which can also be tailored to excite. Learning is the process of gaining information by experience and applying that information to alter one's behaviour. Learning is more than just memorising facts; it's also about applying that information to your interactions with the outside world. <br>Action learning is widely acknowledged as a potent and revolutionary instrument that aids organisations in comprehending the demands of change and impediments to resistance as members explore intricate and pressing issues impacting organisational growth. Action learning blends change-making with self-improvement. The action learning approach was created by Professor Reg Revans (1982), who had a strong interest in enhancing human systems for the benefit of those who relied on them. Action learning is based on two fundamental principles: a pragmatic awareness of what needs to be done now and a deeply humanistic appreciation of human potential. The power of action learning in adult, professional, and managerial education lies in the concept of action. <br>It can be defined as a process by which people attempt to identify and implement solutions to their issues or developmental obstacles while sharing and learning from one another. Action learning is based on the idea that people, even when they occasionally act ignorantly, can stimulate their curiosity about the world around them by questioning their assumptions. Asking questions helps individuals create and modify their frames of reference, or mental models, when they interpret their current situation through the lens of their past experiences. <br>"Action learning" encourages questioning and critical thinking to improve comprehension, especially in groups. The process of making significant progress towards possibilities and issues for which a solution may not yet exist is known as action learning. This is due to the fact that different managers—all of whom are honourable, competent, and experienced—will suggest alternative courses of action depending on their personal value systems, prior experiences, and future objectives.<br>This literature review's main goals are to show that the author understands the origins and evolution of action learning, explains its advantages and disadvantages as a methodology for organisational problem solving, draws comparisons and contrasts between action learning and action research, evaluates and assesses the difficulties in putting the program's implementation within Zion Covenant Ventures, and assesses my own learning experiences based on the research and writing of the review. <br>The first section of the literature review discusses previous theories of learning, such as the cognitive and behavioural approaches. According to some academics, action learning is similar to experiential learning in that it emphasises behavioural and cognitive interactions that result in organisational learning. This evaluation of the research supports the idea that action learning is a cognitive learning strategy.
