Social and Political Activity of A.F. Koni: “Women’s Question” in Russia

The “women’s question” in Russia at the beginning of the 20th century was one of the first in a number of other important social problems that required an immediate solution. One of the active figures who participated in resolving this issue was Anatoly Koni. In the State Council and the authorities of the Provisional Government, he actively sought to grant women the right to work as jury attorneys, to participate in the jury. He insisted on equalizing the civil rights of men and women. He proposed a series of important measures to combat prostitution. Some of the bills were adopted. Koni believed, in accordance with the principles of reason, that it is necessary to gradually expand the rights of women, preparing them for active social activity.
