This paper will highlight the design features and applications of the HM 290 which was recently introduced in the new GMT400 2WD and 4WD light duty trucks.</div> <div class="htmlview paragraph">TO SET THE WORLD STANDARD requires a new approach to future product design of both vehicles and components. In developing a new manual transmission for light duty truck applications, this approach involved a global search of manual transmission design and technology. New transmissions have to reflect the best attributes of engineering design and manufacturing process.
