Resonance Raman Spectrum of β-Carotene in Liquid-core Optical Fiber*1

View through CrossRef
The resonance Raman effect is produced in liquid-core optical fiber, enhancing the Raman spectral intensity 109 times. The absorption band and concentration of the sample effect the intensity of resonance Raman spectra. The optimum length of the optical fiber depends on the sample concentration. Good resonance Raman spectra of β-carotene in CS2 have been obtained and the intensity of the resonance Raman spectra has been enhanced 102–103 times. The Raman spectra of samples with low concentration (1×10-13 mol/L) have also been obtained. In the experiment, we have noted that the frequency deviation of the Raman line shifts when the concentration of β-carotene in CS2 is low.
