'Gänna' is a traditional ball game unique to Ethiopia. It consists of two teams who use curved sticks to hit a ball, in a game comparable to hockey. It is traditionally played at Christmas. Painting on parchment depicting two groups of young boys playing the Ethiopian ball game 'Gänna'. The boys are wearing traditional Ethiopian dress of white cotton trousers and tunics. Three of the boys carry curved sticks used to play the game.
