Alan Rudolph

Alan Rudolph is the acclaimed writer and director of over twenty feature films, including Choose Me (1984), Trouble in Mind (1985), and Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle (1994). He first worked with Robert Altman as the second assistant director on The Long Goodbye (1973) and California Split (1974) and assistant director on Nashville (1975), and wrote the screenplay for Buffalo Bill and the Indians, or Sitting Bull’s History Lesson (1976). Altman later produced Rudolph’s Welcome to L.A. (1977), Remember My Name (1978), Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle, Afterglow (1997), and Trixie (2000). In this interview, Rudolph discusses Altman as a producer, lessons learned from their work together, and the development of Mrs. Parker
and the Vicious Circle and the Kurt Vonnegut adaptation Breakfast of Champions (1999).
