Mediating Effect of Digital Skills on the Relationship Between Cybercrime Awareness and Cybercrime Security Performance of Police Personnel

Cybercrime police personnel are expected to be digitally skilled to track cybercriminals online, which raises the question of the mediating effect of digital skills on the relationship between cybercrime awareness and cybercrime security performance among police personnel. Questionnaires were distributed among the 350 police personnel under the Davao City Police Office, and the responses were analyzed statistically using Mean, Pearson product-moment correlation, Medgraph using the Sobel z-test, Regression, and the Mediation Test Technique. The study found that the level of digital skills among police personnel in Davao City is very high, indicating they are well-adept at browsing online. Also, their level of cybercrime awareness is very high, indicating they are fully aware of how cybercrime operates in Davao City. The level of cybercrime security performance is high, indicating their performance in fighting cybercrime is strong, but there is still room for improvement. The result also shows correlations among cybercrime awareness, digital skills, and cybercrime security performance; lastly, there is a correlation between cybercrime awareness and cybercrime security performance. Partial mediation occurred when cybercrime awareness, before reaching cybercrime security performance, flowed through digital skills, and less than half of the effect was mediated by the mediating variable.
