The dedication of Giovanni Marco Paluzzi to “Marchese del Carpio Ambasciatore di Sua Maesta Cattolica in Roma,” Don Gaspar de Haro y Guzmán, VIIe Marquis del Carpio (Madrid 1629-Naples 1687) dates the series before 1687. The sheet was part of important collectors, see Lugt 4772-74. The episode was reissued by Domenico de Rossi in Rome and its address “In Roma nella Stamperia di Domenico de Rossi alla Pace” replaced by the name of Billy (Guilmard 1880, p. 321; Lotz 1939, 584). This episode is first mentioned in the Indice delle stampe by Domenico de Rossi in 1705 (Grelle Iusco 1996, pp. 324-325). Copper engravings are laterally inverted copies of the episode, which were published by Matteo Gregorio Rossi in Rome in 1682. This episode was given by Matteo Gregorio Rossi on behalf of the “Monsignor Vescovo di Dragonia, assessore del S. Officio.” The original episode was engraved by Pietro Cerini and moved by Matteo de Giudici (active 1654-1692) in Parione, Rome (Lotz 1939, 585). Guilmard 1880 describes the episode as a sideways, German copy.
