Interculturality

Interculturality is a complex concept and is understood in different ways. Contemporary understandings suggest that interculturality needs to be viewed in interpersonal and interactional terms rather than as an encounter between “cultures.” In interaction, interculturality involves the creation and interpretation of meanings between participants who do not share the same linguistic and cultural understandings and this requires participants to engage in processes of intercultural mediation and decentering.
