Cassius Dio, a 3rd century AD historian, paid a particuliar interest to the importance of dreams. Using all the resources of the classical Greek vocabulary expressing dreamlike activity, he emphasizes the political part of dreams in civil wars, at the beginning of Principate and when the princes came to power.
