Naoshi Fukushima awarded Smith medal

Naoshi Fukushima, former director of the University of Tokyo's Geophysics Research Laboratory, received the 1990 Waldo E. Smith Medal for extraordinary service to geophysics at the AGU Fall Meeting Honors Ceremony on December 5 in San Francisco. The citation, delivered by Juan G. Roederer, and Fukushima's response are presented below.
