A Study on the Founder and History of Hwaeomsa Temple

View through CrossRef
This paper is a review of the founder and history of Hwaeomsa Temple, and as stated in the introduction, there are no accurate data or literature, and only various theories have been handed down, Many theories related to the foundation commonly refer to the founder as a monk named Yeongi, but they raised the issue of the difference in the Chinese character writing and the founding period, which are the legal names of the monk Yeongi. In the main text, it is unreliable to say that it was established by a postponement survey of King Jinheung's 5th year (544) in the history of Hwaeom Temple written after the Japanese invasions of Korea, but contrary to this view, I tried to find out based on various documents, efforts were made to supplement the Hwaeom Seokgyeong, the comparison of patterns, and the human bones of the collect body to its limitations, Additionally, the issue of the foundation was examined through the source of the Great Sutra of Hwaeom, the Prayer Text, and the Hyodae (the Four Lion Three-storey Stone Pagoda and Stone Lantern). The first is the comparison of patterns on the Illustration of the Avatamsaka Sutra of Silla and the Four Lion Three-storey Stone Pagoda, and the second is the sarira 1 of the human bones and the livestock farming of construction period of Sutra, which were recovered from the Four Lion Three-storey Stone Pagoda and the Stone Lantern, it should be viewed as a ceremonial space with both the symbolism of the pagoda and the stupa. This can already be seen in the Mountain Diary, which refers to Hyodae as Budoam. The third was an effort to grasp its meaning through a teacup on the stone lantern. In conclusion, the monk Yeongi(烟起) in Histoty of Hwaeomsa Temple was organized into the founder, who opened Hwaeomsa Temple in the 5th year of King Jinheung (544), and the buddhist Yeongi(緣起) in Prayer Text of the Illustration of the Avatamsaka Sutra and Jiri Mountain daily work were organized into the three founder in the 14th year of King Gyeongdeok's reign (755), and the Chinese characters in Yeongi(烟起) and Yeongi(緣起) were also different, the monk(祖師) into the founder and the buddhist(法師) into the three founder were organized into different people. In addition, Hyodae was organized into a ceremonial space with both the characteristics of a pagoda and a stupa. In other words, the limitations of the literature were clearly summarized through the collect office, the time of tower construction, the comparison of patterns, and the collect human bones. I think it is necessary to reveal the truth about the founding owner and the founding period, and to accept and further develop it. It is not just to inflate history, but I think history will develop when it progresses. I said I would organize it, but I think there will be a limit. I hope you will reprimand me a lot.
Title: A Study on the Founder and History of Hwaeomsa Temple
