ADVANCING QUANTITATIVE INTERPRETATION PETROPHYSICS: INTEGRATING SEISMIC PETROPHYSICS FOR ENHANCED SUBSURFACE CHARACTERIZATION
View through CrossRef
This paper explores the integration of Quantitative Interpretation (QI) petrophysics and seismic petrophysics to enhance subsurface characterization. The primary objective is to assess how combining high-resolution well-log data from QI petrophysics with broad-scale seismic data from seismic petrophysics improves the accuracy and reliability of subsurface models. The paper demonstrates the practical benefits of this integration in various geological settings through detailed case studies from the North Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Middle East. The methods employed include a comprehensive review of both disciplines' theoretical frameworks and practical applications, along with an analysis of case studies where integration was applied. The key findings highlight that integrating QI and seismic petrophysics leads to more detailed and accurate subsurface models by combining the strengths of both data sources. This approach significantly reduces uncertainty in reservoir characterization and improves the prediction of key properties such as porosity, permeability, and fluid saturation. The significance of integrating QI petrophysics and seismic petrophysics lies in its ability to overcome the limitations of using each data source in isolation. By bridging the gap between localized well-log data and spatially extensive seismic data, the integration provides a more comprehensive understanding of the subsurface, facilitating better decision-making in exploration and production. This combined approach substantially improves subsurface characterization, particularly in complex and heterogeneous reservoirs where traditional methods may fall short..

Title: ADVANCING QUANTITATIVE INTERPRETATION PETROPHYSICS: INTEGRATING SEISMIC PETROPHYSICS FOR ENHANCED SUBSURFACE CHARACTERIZATION
Description:
This combined approach substantially improves subsurface characterization, particularly in complex and heterogeneous reservoirs where traditional methods may fall short.
