Usability Evaluation of the Prophetic Hadith Practice Module in Islamic Counselling
View through CrossRef
Islamic counselling emphasises the integration of divine revelation, particularly the Qur’an and Hadith, as fundamental sources guiding theory and practice. Nevertheless, the practical application of Hadith in contemporary counselling sessions remains limited. This limitation is largely attributed to counsellors’ insufficient exposure to religious knowledge, especially in the science of Hadith, as well as the absence of structured, systematic, and accessible guidance to facilitate its integration into counselling practice. In response to this gap, the present study evaluates the usability of the Prophetic Hadith Practice Module in Islamic Counselling, which was specifically developed to support Muslim counsellors in incorporating Hadith-based approaches into their professional practice. The study aimed to assess the module’s usability in terms of comprehensibility, relevance, and effectiveness, focusing on its content, implementation strategies, and applicability in real counselling settings. A qualitative research design was employed using semi-structured interviews with nine registered Muslim counsellors selected through purposive sampling. The collected data were analysed using Lichtman’s 3C method, which involves systematic processes of coding, categorising, and developing concepts. The findings revealed three major usability themes. First, the module demonstrated strong comprehensibility and content accessibility, indicating that its structure, language, and presentation facilitated understanding among counsellors. Second, the module was found to be effective in enhancing counsellors’ knowledge, confidence, and practical skills in applying Hadith-based interventions. Third, the module showed high relevance and applicability in actual counselling sessions, supporting its potential use as a practical guide in professional settings. This study is significant as it addresses both theoretical and practical gaps in Islamic counselling by providing empirical evidence on the usability of a Hadith-based counselling module. The findings contribute to the development of structured resources that can strengthen the integration of Prophetic traditions into counselling practice, thereby enhancing the quality and effectiveness of Islamic counselling services.

Title: Usability Evaluation of the Prophetic Hadith Practice Module in Islamic Counselling
