Alexithymia pada Generasi Z: Studi Literatur
View through CrossRef
Abstract. Generation Z shows a significant increase in mental health problems such as stress, anxiety, and emotion regulation difficulties related to their high use of digital media. This study aims to review the relevance of the classic concept of alexithymia in the context of Generation Z as digital natives through a literature review. This article discusses the theoretical concept of alexithymia as a psychological condition that includes difficulty recognizing, expressing and understanding emotions, a concrete mindset and lack of emotional imagination. The discussion continues with the characteristics of Generation Z and the emotional challenges they face in their digital-dominant daily lives. The review shows that although forms of communication have changed, emotional difficulties as described in the concept of alexithymia still appear in forms such as social media addiction, low empathy, and emotional escape to the internet. Empirical studies from various countries, including Indonesia, show a significant relationship between alexithymia and compulsive digital behavior. Thus, it can be concluded that the classic concept of alexithymia is still very relevant in explaining the emotional dynamics of Generation Z today.
