The Economic Challenges of Azerbaijan Post-First Karabakh War

View through CrossRef
Among the causes of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, economic interests are as important as political motives. The economic damage caused by Armenia to Azerbaijan in 1991 is examined in the article "The Economic Challenges of Azerbaijan Post-First Karabakh War". The article discusses the fact that the rulers of the fictitious Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and the official Yerevan were stealing the energy, mining, and agricultural resources in the seized territory of Azerbaijan. Simultaneously, throughout the duration of the 29-year occupation, businesses connected to the Armenian state that are active abroad have unfairly profited greatly from the colonization of Nagorno-Karabakh's territory. Not only did Armenia engage in colonial activities in Karabakh, but they also unlawfully entered Azerbaijan's airspace by influencing the population. Due to the transfer of Azerbaijani resources to foreign entrepreneurs, favorable circumstances were created for corporations based in Russia, the United States, India, Sweden, Lebanon, England, Germany, and France to establish themselves in Karabakh. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev repeatedly called on the relevant authorities during and after the occupation period for a legal assessment before the relevant international authorities and mechanisms and to draw attention to the plunder and unlawful use of the occupied Azerbaijani lands. The aim of the article is to convey the abovementioned facts to the world public opinion and to create a bibliography for academics to make a legal evaluation about the regular and endless crimes committed by Armenia.
