Poem 50: Fujiwara no Yoshitaka

Ichiyūsai Kuniyoshiga I様様様 Common series of Kuniyoshi, Hiroshige and Kunisada about the famous collection of poems “Hyakunin isshu IIII” (hundred poets with a hundred poems). In the yellow striped field at the top, the 50th poem of the collection, written by Fujiwara no Yoshitaka Im Im Im Im Im (954-974; one of the 36 immortals of the poetry of the Middle Ages = chūko and The picture shows Kan 'u (= Guan Yu), one of the three companions from the Chinese novel “San guozhi yanyi” (Sankokushi engi Das Das 様). Drawn entirely in Chinese style with Chinese clothes, he sits on a porcelain stool, behind him his halberd is leaned on a blossoming peach tree (momo). In the peach garden, the three companions meet to swear an oath.
