Blockchain Technology in Supply Chain Management: Expectation Confirmation Theory Perspective

This study examines the continuance intention of blockchain technology (BCT) use in supply chain management (SCM) through the lens of extended expectation confirmation theory (ECT) with additional factors, perceived ease of use and trust. Data were collected via a questionnaire from 236 supply chain professionals (SCP) in Beijing, China. Structural equation modeling was employed to evaluate the research framework using SPSS 23 and AMOS 24. The empirical findings reveal that expectation positively influences confirmation, suggesting that higher expectations lead to stronger confirmation. Furthermore, expectation has a direct positive impact on satisfaction, while perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use both positively affect confirmation. Confirmation positively influences satisfaction and subsequently impacts continuance intention. Trust plays a moderating role between confirmation and continuance intention. This study provides theoretical and practical implications for SCP to fulfil stakeholders’ requirements.
