Study of the Behavior of Microalloying of Feconicr High-Entropy Alloy

View through CrossRef
Face-centered cubic (FCC) single-phase high-entropy alloy FeCoNiCr is characterized by high plasticity and low strength. This work further investigates the effect of microalloying on the mechanical properties and deformation mechanism of FeCoNiCr by adding small amounts of Cu, Al and Ti to increase the entropy value of. Results show that compared with FeCoNiCr, FeCoNiCrTi 0.1 has an increased tensile strength by about 100 MPa and a decreased plasticity by about 15%. Meanwhile, FeCoNiCrAl 0.1 and FeCoNiCrCu 0.1 , have better elongation than FeCoNiCr, at 115% and 133%, respectively. Analysis reveals that, the high plasticity resulting from Cu trace addition depends mainly on the combination of subgrain boundaries, twinning, and cross-slip migration between layer dislocations within alloy grains during the tensile deformation.
