THE USE OF ENGLISH CHILDREN'S SONGS IN PRIMARY SCHOOL FOR THE FORMATION OF LEXICAL SKILLS

View through CrossRef
This study considers the methodological problem of using English children's songs in primary school in order to form the lexical skill of students. In the course of a foreign language at school, the most important goal of teaching is the development of children's lexical skills: without which it is impossible to imagine the formation of both speech competencies and stable language skills, the lexical stock of foreign words necessary for communication. Without practical examples of the use of various words in texts in primary school, children do not develop the ability to distinguish semantic connections between different lexemes, the skills of cognition of their meaning and use in the process of monologic or dialogical speech. In addition, in the course of teaching English, it is necessary to adapt educational texts to the language skills and abilities of younger students, when the teacher selects exactly those texts, studying which students do not experience difficulties in learning various lexemes and expressions, understand the semantics of words, and imagine subsequent use in speech communication. English children's songs are just such texts that allow, in addition to the development of lexical skills, to motivate students to further study a foreign language, since the popularity of children's cartoons in this language predetermines their successful use already in primary school. Using children's songs in the process of teaching English in primary school, the teacher can achieve both the formation of stable lexical skills of students with high-quality pronunciation of foreign words and expressions. Children's songs are listening material and in addition to mastering pronunciation in the process of singing, students learn foreign words in their semantic environment, developing their own speech skills. In the study, we offer a number of methodological techniques for using English-language children's songs in English lessons at school, contributing to the formation of children's lexical competencies and the development of a basis for further growth of vocabulary, expansion of speech foreign speech practices.
Title: THE USE OF ENGLISH CHILDREN'S SONGS IN PRIMARY SCHOOL FOR THE FORMATION OF LEXICAL SKILLS
