Fragment of a Wall Hanging Depicting a Flying Boy

This large wall hanging was created from rows of looped wool wefts on a plain woven linen ground. The loops are short and close to the ground. The main design consists of a flying nude brown-haired boy with blue wings. He wears a gold bracelet and holds a purple and gold scarf. The boy flies toward the right side of the textile, but looks back over his shoulder towards the left. A rich green garland above the boy contains yellow, red, and blue-green flowers. Four purple self-bands are visible at the top of the textile.
