CONCEPTUAL AND APPLIED STUDY ON HETU AND HETVAABHASA

View through CrossRef
Acquiring valid knowledge across all domains is essential. In Ayurveda, the process of developing fundamental knowledge has been described as Prama (Valid knowledge), Prameya (Object), Pramata (Investigator), and Pramana (Means to obtain valid knowledge). Among these, Pramana helps obtain valid knowledge. Acharya Chakrapaani considered Pareeksha as Pramana, they are Aptopadesha, Pratyaksha, and Anumana. Nyaya-Darshana gave more importance Anumana Pramana. In Anumana Pramana, the presence of Hetu in Paksha to prove Sadhya through Vyapti Jnana is given significant importance. Among these, Hetu is given utmost im-portance, and it is of two kinds Sad and Asad Hetu. Actual Hetu is the one which fulfil all the Sad-Hetu Lak-shanas. Asad Hetu or Hetvaabhasa mimics the actual Hetu, but it doesn’t fulfil the characteristics of a Sad Hetu. In this article, an attempt is made to understand the concepts of Hetu and Hetvaabhasa through a literature re-view, and their extended clinical application is described in the discussion section. To conclude, a proper under-standing of Hetu and Hetvaabhasa will help in achieving Pratipatti Jnana of Roga, Rogi, Oushadha and also in research. OBJECTIVES : • Concept of Hetu and Hetvaabhaasa • Application of Hetu and Hetvaabhaasa in clinical practice
