Algal Flagella

View through CrossRef
Abstract Flagella are extremely complex machines that must assemble over 300 components and coordinate their functions. The molecular motors dynein and kinesin are found in the flagella and are believed to be necessary for the generation of a waveform. Algal flagella bend with a characteristic waveform in order to propel the cells through liquid.
